Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Foreign Secretary to write letters to Ambassadors to ascertain whether Foreign Members of the Royal Society were still living. Notices of candidates for Foreign Membership to be given in the summons for next Council. The Speaker of the House of Commons had ordered Reports of Commons' Committees be granted to the Society. Mr. Dollond requested to pack the fluid lens telescope into a strong box, with an eye-end stand in a different box, to be sent to Captain Smyth, then forwarded to George Biddell Airy. Dollond's bill for the telescope, £177 10s., ordered to be paid. Woronzow Greig requested an extension of the period for his admission to the Fellowship, granted. Mr. Christie appointed to read 'Experimental determination of the laws of magneto-electric induction' as the Bakerian Lecture. Report of the Excise Committee, 12 February 1833, received and adopted. |
