DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Joseph Henry Green; Dr. Henry Holland; Charles Konig; John William Lubbock; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: Mr. Baily, Mr. Christie and Mr. Green were sworn in as new Members of Council and minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Reappointments of committees, with lists of members and terms of reference: Donation Fund Committee; Library Committee; Catalogue Committee; Committee for Examining Letters and Documents; Excise Committee; and the Meteorological Committee. Letter from Mr. Clayton Freeling for the Commissioners of Excise, requesting an opinion on Allan's Saccharometer, referred to the Excise Committee. The sum of £38 19s. to be paid to Mr. Basset for surveying the Acton estate. Application from Mr. Cross, the tenant at Maplethorp for a reduction of rent, refused. Application from the Secretary of the Athenaeum Club for a grant of the Greenwich Observations for 1830, granted. Lord John Churchill's application for a grant of Philosophical Transactions from 1830, on behalf of the Director of the United Services Museum, granted. Extensions of time for admission to the Fellowship granted to the Marquis of Breadalbane and Sir William Molesworth. Application from Sir Richard Cattermole, Royal Society of Literature, for a grant of the Philosophical Transactions, issues from 1830 onward granted.
