DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Davies Gilbert; Dr. Henry Holland; John William Lubbock; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Lord Minto applied for an extension to admission to the Fellowship, granted. Francis Marcet, having paid his admission fee and sum in lieu of annnual contributions, but unable to attend for admission, residing in Geneva, requested to be inserted into the list of Fellows, granted. Letter from H. Baring, Treasury Chambers, 14 April 1836, to Dr. Roget, expressing the thanks of the Treasury for the Excise Committee report. Twenty five copies of the Excise Committee report to be made available to the Board of Excise, with other copies at their service if required. Mr. Roberton's health suffering from confinement after attending evenings with Mr. Panizzi, Roberston to be excused for one evening per week. Letter from Baron Humboldt to the Duke of Sussex, requesting the Royal Society's co-operation in making connected magnetic observations, referred to Mr. Christie and the Astronomer Royal, for a report to Council.
