DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: William Allen; Dr. John Bostock; John George Children; George Bellas Greenough; William Lawrence; John Lindley; William Haseldine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. New Members of Council were sworn in. H.R.H. the Duke of Sussex had delivered up to the Royal Astronomical Society the west room on the mezzanine floor, which the Treasury had put in his possession in 1834. List of persons in arrears with their contributions to the Society, with a note that Mr. Mackenzie had since paid and wished to be re-admitted to the Royal Society, to be ballotted for that evening at the Ordinary Meeting. resolved that Council would receive proposals to fill vacancies in Foreign Membership, four names to be selected at a subsequent meeting. Treasurer to make arrangements to replace Mr. Gould as Porter, following his resignation. Re-appointment of Royal Society committees, with lists of members and terms of reference: Donation Fund Committee; Library Committee; Catalogue Committee; Meteorological Committee; and the Balloon Committee. Resolved that in announcing the award of the Copley Medal to Baron Berzelius, no specific works should be mentioned.
