Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer to write to Mr. Repsold to ascertain the state of the pendulum apparatus and what expense had been incurred; the Society would prefer to cancel the order. The Royal Asiatic Society requested copies of Philosophical Transactions volumes published prior to 1823, granted, with only 20 copies remaining. Report of the Royal Medal Committee (Physiology) recommending Professor A. P. De Candolle for a medal award, and proposing a prize question: 'to determine the laws by which the functions of the different organs belonging to the animal system are associated with each organ'. Consideration of the two Medal Committee reports deferred until next Council. Mr. T. S. Davies requested an extension to his time for admission into the Felllowship, granted. Mr. Brodie requested permission to copy his 1813 paper on the influence of the nervous system on the action of muscles, granted. |
