DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Thomas Bell; Charles Brooke; Samuel Hunter Christie; Charles Giles Bridle Daubeny; Sir Philip de Malpas Grey Egerton; George Peacock, Dean of Ely; John Peter Gassiot; Edward Sabine; Captain William Henry Smyth; William Spence; Nathaniel Wallich; the President, William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting and of the special meeting were read and confirmed. John Phillips to be added to the Southern Telescope Committee, and the committee to have power to add to their number. Report of the auditors of the Treasurer's accounts. Dr. Daubeny stated that he had been commissioned to apply on behalf of the Society of Naturalists of Moscow for the organisation to be placed on the list of societies receiving copies of the Philosophical Transactions and that the Moscow Society proposed to send their Transactions: resolved that the journal and back numbers would be granted.
