The purchase of £1,000 Great Northern Railway stock for the Scientific Relief Fund. Correspondence between John Evans and William George Armstrong on Armstrong's donation and matching funding for the Scientific Relief Fund entered into the minutes: the total fund of £16,400 was below Armstong's recommendation that the Society should have £20,000 at its disposal and therefore he pledged a further £3,600. Payment of a bill for gold used in medals to Johnson Matthey and Company.
