Commencing with a list of Council members present: Henry Edward Armstrong; William Edward Ayrton; William Henry Mahoney Christie; Charles Baron Clarke; William Boyd Dawkins; Michael Foster; Edward Emanuel Klein; Edwin Ray Lankester; Hugo Muller; Alfred Newton; Andrew Noble; John William Strutt, Lord Rayleigh; Edward John Routh; Sir William Scovell Savory; Joseph John Thomson; The Treasurer [John Evans]; Alexander William Williamson; Sir Charles William Wilson; the President, Sir George Gabriel Stokes, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting read and approved. Death of General Sir John Henry Lefroy. £100 from the Scientific Relief Fund to be placed with Mr Thiselton Dyer for applicants. Candidates for Fellowship discussed and adjourned. Leave granted for copying of papers and electrotyping of illustrations. Bills for printing, papere, electric lighting and for other goods and services.
