Commencing with a list of Council members present: William Henry Mahoney Christie; Michael Foster; Archibald Geikie; Hugo Muller; John William Strutt, Lord Rayleigh; William Chandler Roberts-Austen; Edward Albert Schafer; General Richard Strachey; Thomas Edward Thorpe; The Treasurer, Sir John Evans; Sydney Howard Vines; General James Thomas Walker; the President, Sir William Thomson, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting read and approved. Letter from Sir Henry Ponsonby, relaying the Queen's approval in the award of Royal Medals. Report of the auditors on the Treasurer's accounts. Extension of admission to the Fellowship granted to Oliver Heaviside. Letters of thanks for the award of medals, from the recipients. Professor Flower re-appointed a Trustee of the Soane Museum. Copies of papers by Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Robertson to be granted and made at the expense of the Royal Society. Bond for £1,000 received from Dr. Gunning and deposited with securities at the bank. Seal of the Royal Society affixed to a transfer of stock. List of salaries, wages and pensions for Royal Society Officers and staff.
