Commencing with a list of Council members present: Isaac Bayley Balfour; Andrew Ainslie Common; Andrew Russell Forsyth; Richard Tetley Glazebrook; Alexander Henry Green; Sir John Kirk; Sir Joseph Lister; Sir John Lubbock; William Davidson Niven; William Henry Perkin; John William Strutt, Lord Rayleigh; Adam Sedgwick; Thomas Edward Thorpe; William Augustus Tilden; the Treasurer, Sir John Evans; William Cawthorne Unwin; the President, William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting read and approved. Treasurer's note on the proposed sale of stock to the value of £1,000 to meet publishing deficit. Adjudication of Royal Society medals: Dr. Karl Weierstrass withdrawn from the process; awards, with citations, to Edward Frankland (Copley Medal), James Dewar (Rumford Medal), Joseph John Thomson (Royal Medal), Victor Alexander Haden Horsley (Royal Medal), Per Theodor Cleve (Davy Medal), Thomas Henry Huxley (Darwin Medal). List of President, Officers and Fellows to serve as Members of Council from the Anniversary Meeting, these to be communicated to the public papers. Nomination of auditors for the Treasurer's accounts. Draft letter, Michael Foster, Burlington House, 2 November 1894, to Clements R. Markham, President of the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Savile Row, full text entered into the minutes; on the interview with the First Lord of the Admiralty and doubts about the proposed Antarctic Expedition, letter approved. Letter from Mr. Thiselton Dyer on Kew Observatory read, further consultation agreed. Letter from the Treasury stating that no incerase should be expected on the £4,000 annual Government Grant. Letter from the Director of the Natural History Museum applying for volumes of the Catalogue of Scientific Papers referred to the Catalogue Committee. The Master of the Mint undertaking the striking of the Buchanan Medal and dies had been transferred to him. Leave granted for the return of a photograph to Dr. J. W. Spencer. List of wages and salaries paid to Officers and staff. Bills for printing, alterations to the rooms and other expenses.
