President reported that he and members of Council had visited the Standards Department of the Board of Trade the previous morning, to inspect metric standards. Letter from Bryan Donkin offering to obtain a bust of the late Bryan Donkin FRS for the Society, offer accepted. Letter of condolence from the Royal Academy of Sciences Turin on the death of Professor Cayley. Presentation of the five-volume 'Biologia Centrali-Americana' by Ducane Godman and Osbert Salvin. Dr. Thorpe noting that new buildings were intended for Christ's Hospital, the Secretary to express the hope that these would include adequate facilities for science teaching. £50 from the Scientific Relief Fund placed with Mr. Thiselton Dyer for an urgent case applicant. Report of the House and Soiree Committee on conversazione dates and suggesting the limiting of informal receptions, approved. Letter from the Secretary of the Board of Works on changing the name of the Incorporated Kew Committee, opposed. Request from the Academie des Sciences that the Royal Society should form a committee for the Lavoisier memorial, rejected. Letter from Sir W. O. Priestley requesting the use of rooms for the British Medical Association allowed, but only those not in use by the Catalogue staff. Professor Sherrington allowed the use of diagrams prepared for the lecture by Professor Ramon y Cajal. Draft instructions intended for a committee adminstering a grant under the Government Grant scheme, full text entered into the minutes. Agreed to present a copy of volume 9 of the Catalogue of Scientific Papers to the Public Museum of Moscow. Leave granted for electrotype copying of illustrations, returns of tracings and copies of publications. Bills for printing and other expenses.
