Commencing with a list of Council members present: Horace Tabberer Brown: James Bryce; Captain Ettrick William Creak; James Dewar; Edwin Bailey Elliott; Sir Michael Foster (Secretary); Hans Friedrich Gadow; William Dobinson Halliburton; Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); Sir Andrew Noble; Arnold William Reinold; Arthur William Rucker (Secretary); George Johnstone Stoney; Jethro Justinian Harris Teall; Joseph John Thomson; Thomas Edward Thorpe (Foreign Secretary); Edward Burdett Tylor; Sir Samuel Wilks; the President, Lord Lister, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted:
1. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
2. Deaths of Edward Joseph Lowe, Dr. William Marcet, Professor Thomas Preston, George James Symons and John James Walker.
3. W. H. M. Christie nominated by ballot to serve on Council in place of George James Symons.
4. List of delegates nominated to the International Association of Academies: the vote of the Society to be delivered by Lord Kelvin, on a majority of delegates, and in his absence, by a member chosen by the delegates.
5. In response to Professor Hughes' executors, it was moved by Michael Foster and James Dewar that the Society had sufficient medals and should turn down the bequest; Thomas Edward Thorpe and J. J. Thomson proposed its acceptance and their amendment carried. A committee appointed to consider how a medal or prize would be awarded.
6. The secretaries to prepare a statement on bequests to place in the Yearbook.
7. A committee appointed to consider the terms of the Mackinnon bequest.
8. Letter from the Royal Statistical Society on the Census Bill, and the need for an intermediate survey in 1906, a letter to be addressed to the Marquis of Salisbury.
9. £25 from the Donation Fund granted to Professor J. D. Cunningham for a publication in the Journal of Anatomy.
10. £116 from the Donation Fund awarded to the Coral Reef Committee for publication expenses in preparing the monograph on Funafuti.
11. £50 from the Publication Fund awarded to the Linnean Society for the publication of F. Chapman's paper on foraminifera of the Funafuti Expedition.
12. Application for funds for a proposed memorial statue to Sir Thomas Browne in Norwich, declined.
13. Seal of the Royal Society affixed to a certificate allowing the Treasurer to collect interest accruing to the Mackinnon Bequest.
14. Delegates nominated to the International Geological Congress, Paris.
15. The Society to request of Lord Esher the use of the vacant building in Burlington Gardens as acccommodation; a committee to be set up to examine the matter.
16. Obituaries of Fellows considered and agreed to publish them in a sister volume to the Proceedings, in addition to the Yearbook.
17. A second edition of the Record of the Royal Society to be published, with a complete list of Fellows.
18. The practice of candidates for election canvassing Fellows was noted, but considered rare enough not to take action.
19. Further consideration of the privileged class of Fellows deferred until a decision on the establishment of a British Academy had been reached.
20. Report of Government Grant Board B on J. Norman Lockyer's application; a grant of £100 from the reserve fund to be allocated.
21. Letter from H.M. Office of Works assenting to the Royal Society's holding of Kew Observatory in place of the Kew Observatory Committee.
22. Letter from W. N. Shaw taking up duties as Secretary of the Meteorological Council.
23. Letter from the India Office forwarding copies of the Trevandrum Observations for distribution.
24. Salary of Miss Barnard increased to £100 on the recommendation of the Catalogue of Scientific Papers Committee.
25. Mr. W. H. Thelwall withdrawing his paper on musical sounds.
26. Office and Library to be closed for the Easter vacation.
27. Francis Galton and Professor Weldon resigning their places on the Evolution Committee, the committee to continue: F. D. Godman to Chair, with William Bateson as Secretary.
28. Leave granted for reprinting papers and reproducing illustrations.
29. Bills for printing.
