Commencing with a list of Council members present: Horace Tabberer Brown: James Bryce; William Henry Mahoney Christie; Captain Ettrick William Creak; Edwin Bailey Elliott; Sir Michael Foster (Secretary); Hans Friedrich Gadow; William Dobinson Halliburton; William Abbott Herdman; Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); Sir Andrew Noble; Arnold William Reinold; Arthur William Rucker (Secretary); George Johnstone Stoney; Jethro Justinian Harris Teall; Joseph John Thomson; Thomas Edward Thorpe (Foreign Secretary); Edward Burdett Tylor; Sir Samuel Wilks; the President, Lord Lister, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted:
1. W. H. M. Christie took the declaration in lieu of the oath, as a new member of Council.
2. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
3. Deaths of the Duke of Argyll, Professor St. George Mivart and Professor Joseph Louis Francois Bertrand.
4. The Officers empowered to act according to their memorandum on difficulties with the Joint Antarctic Committee.
5. Selection of candidates for Fellowship discussed and deferred to the next meeting.
6. Mrs. Bernard Jenkin's offer of two copper reproductions of medallions of Lord Lister and Lord Kelvin accepted [Margaret May Giles].
7. Leave granted to Sir William Abney to photograph the Society's portraits.
8. Letter from the Marquis of Salisbury, passing the Society's Census query to the Local Government Board.
9. Letter of thanks from the Editors of the Journal of Anatomy. The Society's meeting room used by the International Conference on the Preservation of Wild Game in Africa.
10. Leave granted for reprinting archives and papers and for copying illustrations.
11. Bills for engraving, binding, books, and for other expenses.
