Commencing with a list of Council members present: Henry Edward Armstrong; William Bateson; William Thomas Blanford; Frederick Orpen Bower; Charles Vernon Boys; Sir Michael Foster (Secretary); Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); Joseph Larmor (Secretary); Henry Alexander Miers; Robert Henry Scott; Charles Scott Sherrington; Joseph Wilson Swan; Thomas Edward Thorpe (Foreign Secretary); the President, Sir William Huggins, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted:
1. Report of the auditors of the Treaurer's accounts read.
2. Addendum to Council's report to the Fellowship, full text entered into the minutes: on the status of the Assistant Secretary in Council and resulting modifications to statutes and standing orders, the latter to be reviewed by Council.
3. Draft letter from Michael Foster, the Royal Society, to the Under Secretary of State, Foreign Office, full text entered into the minutes: on the proposal for Great Britain to join the International Seismological Association, concluding that representatives sent should state that any such work must be conditional on the approval of the International Association of Academies.
