DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken. Individual minutes are numbered.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. Shelford Bidwell; George Albert Boulenger; Colonel David Bruce; Francis Darwin (Foreign Secretary); Frank Watson Dyson; Percy Faraday Frankland; Sir Archibald Geikie (Secretary); Francis Gotch; Dr. Ernest William Hobson; Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); John Newport Langley; Joseph Larmor (Secretary); Dr. John Edward Marr; Sir William Davidson Niven; William Henry Perkin junior; John Perry; Adam Sedgwick; Dr. William Napier Shaw; William Augustus Tilden; Sir William Wharton; the President, Sir William Huggins, in the chair. The Assistant Secretary [Robert Harrison] attended.

Among matters discussed or noted:

1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed as correct.
2. Death of Professor G.B. Howes: Mr. Stebbing requested to write an Obituary Notice.
3. Selection of candidates for election to the Fellowship considered and adjourned.
4. Report of a joint meeting of Sectional Committees recommending Mr. W.B. Hardy to present the Croonian Lecture.
5. Letter from the Treasury on the publication of the Oxford portion of the International Astrographic Catalogue considered: a copy to be sent with a covering letter from the Royal Society to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, hoping that the conditions would be agreed.
6. Correspondence with the Treasury on the adminstration and funding of the Meteorological Office: letter from Joseph Larmor and Archibald Geikie, 8 November 1904, to the Secretary, H.M. Treasury; letter from G.H. Murray, Treasury Chambers, 21 January 1905, to the Secretaries of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes.
7. Mr Stebbing and Professor Bower to fill vacancies on the Sectional Committees.
8. Seal of the Royal Society affixed to the address to Manuel Garcia on his centenary.
9. Attention drawn to letters and papers relating to the Indian Trigonometrical Survey, sent by Professor G.H. Darwin: draft of a letter to the India Office to be circulated.
10. Two members of the committee on Statutes were out of England, three additional members nominated.
11. Presentation of six volumes of papers by the late Professor Cornu by Madame Cornu, via Lord Kelvin.
12. Meeting dates of the Government Grant Committee and Boards.
13. Reproduction of a portrait of Berzelius presented by Professor Retzius.
14. Letter from the Director of the National Physical Laboratory on delegates to the International Conference on Electrical Standards and Units.
15. Letter from Victor Cavendish, Treasury Chambers, 4 February 1905, to the Secretaries of the Royal Society, Burlington House, full text entered into the minutes: on the Royal Society's continued responsibility for the management of the National Physical Laboratory and on some salary arrangements.
16. Leave granted for reproduction of illustrations.
17. List of bills for payment for paper, printing and other expenses.
