DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken. Individual minutes are numbered.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. Shelford Bidwell; George Albert Boulenger; Francis Darwin (Foreign Secretary); Frank Watson Dyson; Percy Faraday Frankland; Sir Archibald Geikie (Secretary); Francis Gotch; Dr. Ernest William Hobson; Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); Joseph Larmor (Secretary); Dr. John Edward Marr; Sir William Davidson Niven; William Henry Perkin junior; John Perry; Adam Sedgwick; Dr. William Napier Shaw; William Augustus Tilden; the President, Sir William Huggins, in the chair. The Assistant Secretary [Robert Harrison] attended.

Among matters discussed or noted:

1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed as correct.
2. President gave notice that consideration would have to be given to his successor, as he would vacate the chair at the Society's Anniversary.
3. Agreed that two circulars for subscriptions to memorials to men of science would be posted on the notice board, but the promoters to be informed that the Society had no funds applicable for that purpose.
4. Report from the Chairman of Government Grant Board C on Dr. Armstrong's reports on grants made to him in 1888 and 1903; Armstrong to furnish an account or refund the amounts, consideration deferred until the next meeting.
5. Application for the Mackinnon Studentships tabled, these to be printed and referred to two committees of Council, for Biological and for Physical applications.
6. Seal of the Royal Society affixed to diplomas of Foreign Members.
7. Letter from G.H. Murray, Treasury Chambers, 23 May 1905, to the President of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes, forwarding a letter from the Secretary of the International Geodetic Association: draft reply, the Secretaries of the Royal Society, 15 June 1905, to the Secretary, H.M. Treasury: on the cessation of the Association and its impact on surveys in India, Africa, and elsewhere; Professor G.H. Darwin would be ale to supply further details.
8. Letter from the India Office stating that no action is envisaged on the scientific work of the Trigonometric Survey of India and the Royal Society's views would be taken into account if any proposals were to be brought forward.
9. Nomination of delegates to the Convention of the Intrenational Catalogue of Scientific Literature.
10. Report of the Committee on the revision of the Statutes to be distributed to Council before its next meeting.
11. Biennial award of the Joule studentship, the Academie des Sciences to select a student in the next election.
12. Society of Chemical Industry enquiry on joint academy action of the cost of postage rates for scientific publications, the Society to reply in sympathy and the matter would be considered when the project was developed.
13. Treasurer reported on the purchase of stock using the sum bequeathed by Mr. Frank McClean.
14. Adjudication of Royal Society Medals, lists of candidates for the awards entered into the minutes.
15. Letter, G.H. Murray, Treasury Chambers, 23 May 1905, to the President of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: enclosing a Treasury Minute on the future constitution of the Meteorological Office.
16. List of meeting dates and omissions for 1905-1906.
17. Treasurer noted the receipt of £2,000 for the Government Grant investigations.
18. Letter of thanks from the Society of Chemical Industries for the Society's hospitality.
19. Letters of thanks from newly elected Foreign Members tabled.
20. Extension of time for admission to the Felowship granted to Professor Adami.
21. Leave granted the Editor of Nature to reproduce an illustration.
