DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken. Individual minutes are numbered.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. Shelford Bidwell; George Albert Boulenger; Colonel David Bruce; Francis Darwin (Foreign Secretary); Frank Watson Dyson; Percy Faraday Frankland; Sir Archibald Geikie (Secretary); Francis Gotch; Dr. Ernest William Hobson; Alfred Bray Kempe (Treasurer); John Newport Langley; Joseph Larmor (Secretary); Dr. John Edward Marr; Sir William Davidson Niven; William Henry Perkin junior; John Perry; Adam Sedgwick; Dr. William Napier Shaw; William Augustus Tilden; Sir William Wharton; the President, Sir William Huggins, in the chair. The Assistant Secretary [Robert Harrison] attended.

Among matters discussed or noted:

1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed as correct.
2. Deaths of Dr. W.T. Blanford and Mr. J. Mansergh, Professors Bonney and Perry requested to furnish or advise on Obituary Notices.
3. Treasurer reported the receipt of a statement and vouchers from Dr. Armstrong for the expenditure of his Government Grants, referred to the Chairman of Board C.
4. Grant of £25 awarded to Professor Chrystal for the purchase of two Dines microbarographs for observations of the Seiches of Loch Earn, from the Reserve fund of the Government Grant.
5. Report of the committees appointed to assess the Mackinnon Studentships: the Physical Science studentship to be extended one year for Mr. Bryan Cookson, for investigation of the constant of aberration and variation of latitude, with a determination of the mass and compression of Jupiter and corrections to its satellite orbits; the Biological Studentship renewed for Mr. L. Doncaster for research on egg development in sawflies, and breeding experiments with lepidoptera and domestic animals.
6. Report of the Committee on revision of the Statutes, submitting draft statutes, was discussed and amandments to the drafts made, to be proposed at the next meeting.
7. Letter from Robert L. Morant, Board of Education, South Kensington, 20 June 1905, to [the Secretary of the Royal Society?], full text entered into the minutes: requesting the Society's observations on requests for representation at a conference in Berlin to consider amendments to the Strasburg Seismological Convention of 1903; with a report by the Seismology Committee recommending that H.M. Government accede to the request and nominate Professor Arthur Schuster, with support from a German-speaking representative of the government.
8. Resolutions adopted on the report of the International Catalogue Committee.
9. British delegates to the International Catalogue Convention to be the Treasurer, Dr. Ludwig Mond, and Sir Arthur Rucker.
10. The Convention to be invited to use the rooms of the Royal Society.
11. £30 from the Donation Fund to be used in entertaining the delegates to the International Catalogue Convention.
12. Report of the receipt of a scheme for amalgamating the Zoological Record and the Zoological Section of the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, to be communicated to the British delegates as a proposal from the Royal Society.
13. The Academie des Sciences reported the award of a Joule studentship to M. Debierne for research on radioactive bodies.
14. Letter from the Treasury agreeing to a continuation of Great Britain's adherence to the Geodetic Convention of 1895 for a further decade from 1907, with an annual subscription payment of 6,000 marks.
15. Letter from the Executors of the will of Mr. H.T.P. Chipp, stating that he residue of his state was intended for the Royal Society of Muscians of Great Britain, not the Royal Society: the Society to make no claim to the bequest.
16. Letters from the Executors of the estate of Judge Randolph of Montgomery, U.S.A., leaving property to the Royal Society, but conditionally: the Society to make no claim owing to the precarious condition of the estate.
17. Refreshments for the Society of Chemical Industry to be on the same scale as for the May soiree.
18. List of proposals for the award of Royal Society Medals.
19. Professor Langley noted the space occupied by illustrations in the Proceedings, prompting a discussion.
20. Letter from the Secretaries of the Royal Society, 21 June 1905, to the Under Secretary of State, Foreign Office, full text entered into the minutes: transmitting Professor Darwin's memorandum on Africa and the measurement of a geodetic arc, noting that the German government should be made aware of preparations by the Survey Department of the Egyptian Government.
21. The Royal Society unable to send a representative to the International Congress on Colonial Agriculture being organised by the French Society of Colonization and Colonial Agriculture.
22. Extension of time for admission into the Fellowship granted to Lieutenant-Colonel Prain.
23. Officers empowered to take necessary steps during summer recesss.
24. Treasurer authorised to pay bills and other necessary expenses during the summer break.
25. All books belonging to the Library to be returned and the LIbrary closed during August.
26. Leave of absence granted to the Assistant Secretary.
27. List of bills for payment for printing, paper, engraving and for other expenses.
