Among matters discussed or noted:
1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed as correct. 2. Report of the death of Lieutenant-General McMahon, Professor Bonney to be asked to write the Obituary Notice. 3. Selection of candidates for the Fellowship considerd and a list of fifteen to be presented at the Annual Meeting for elections on 5 May; the list ot be read informally at today's meeting in addition to the statutory reading, the list to be communicated to the public press. 4. Letter from the Secretary of the Meteorological Council stating that expenses for reduction of meteorological observations would be £500; the Royal Society to communicate with the Council to reach an arrangement between them and the Royal Geographcal Society. 5. Draft letter, Joseph Larmor and Archibald Geikie, Burlington House, London, 25 February 1904, to the Secretary, H.M. Treasury, full text entered into the minutes: sending a detailed statement on the future of the National Physical Laboratory. 6. The Treasurer called to the attention of Council the large expenditure involved in advising Government, with grant funding intended for private research being diverted to committees complying with Government requests: the time had come to apply to the Treasury for provision to meet expenditure; a committee was set up to consider and report to Council. 7. Application from the Challenger Society to meet in the Society's apartments; granted for one year. 8. Invitation from the President of the University of Wisconsin to attend the university's jubilee deferred until the next meeting. 9. Report of the Scientific Relief Committee recommending sums to be placed for the benefit of applicants. 10. A copy of the list of Fellows of the Royal Society from 1677 presented by Professor A.H.
