TitleCorrespondence between Sir John W Cornforth and Lord Rothschild
Date1961 - [1990]
DescriptionLord Rothschild was largely responsible for both John and Rita Cornforth, along with George Popjak joining Shell. The correspondence in this file begins with Rothschild's formal proposal to John Cornforth, giving initial details of the planned unit. The correspondence continues to revolve around the work at the Shell Milstead laboratory of Chemical Enzymology and other sites, as well as a small number of letters about Rothschild's report to the government in 1972, parts of which were questioned by Cornforth. The correspondence does continue after 1975, when both John and Rita Cornforth left Shell. The last letter in the file is from Lord Rothschild's wife, following his death in 1990.
