TitleTyndall, Arthur Mannering: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionDate stamp on reverse
CitationDistinguished for his contributions to knowledge of experimental physics, especially in the field of the mobility of gaseous ions. The methods that he has devised (Proc Roy Soc, 1926, 1928, 1930) constitute a marked advance in Technique; and in particular his more recent work on the mobility of positive ions throws a new light on the subject. Through his energy and initiative an important new school of physical research has arisen in this country. The part that he played in the inception, the design, and the subsequent development of the Henry Herbert Wills Laboratory cannot be over-emphasised.
