Besides the above mentioned Litterary Titles this Gentleman hath the honour to be Commander and Intendant of the Royal & Military Order of St Lewis, and resides at Paris. His Name hath been known for many years among the Learned by Several Curious disertations published in the Memoirs of the Royal Academy of Sciences at Paris & in particular by a very Learned and usefull book wrote in French entituled 'The Art of Converting Forged Iron into Steel' and 'the Art of Soft'ning Cast Iron' printed at Paris 1722 4to and lately by his 'Curious Memoires relating to the History of Insects' at paris in 4to three Volumes of which work have been Laid before the Royal Society. As he desires the honour of becoming a Member of this Honourable Society, being recommended by a Certificate Signed at paris March 29 1738 N St by the Abbe Bignon, Monsr Dufay, Mr Cassini, Mr Du Hamel du Monceau, Mr Geoffroy, Dr Anthony & Dr Bernhard de Jussieu, all Members of this Society we whose names are underwritten do Joyn in the above-mentioned recommendation, knowing him to be a person of great merit & one, who will make a very usefull member
