This Gentleman being desirous to become a fellow of the Royal Society is recommended in the following manner
We the underwritten, members of the Royal Society of London & of the R Acad of Sciences at Paris, do certify that the Sieur de Vigny member of the Royal Acad of Architecture at Paris is known to us to be a person of distinction in his Profession, that he hath a long time had the direction of the Buildings of the Royal Hospital of Invalides, and that he is daily consulted upon the greatest undertakings in Architecture: in testimony whereof we have given the Said M de Vigny this present certificate, in order to recommend him to the illustrious Royal Society. Paris April 1 1741

In concurrence to which recommendation and in consideration of M de Vigny's having been known to Several of us during his being in London with his intimate friend the Late M du Fay, and thinking him a person qualified for this Honour we propound him as a Candidate.
