TitleSimon, James: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date17 November 1748
CitationMr James Simon of the City of Dublin
Merchant, a Native of France.
Is known to us as a person Skill'd in Natural History and Antiquity, and a promoter of them; and we do think Him a fit person to be proposed for a Fellow of the Royal Society, and that he would become a usefull member thereof.
This gentleman is the Same who communicated Sometime Since to the Society his own curious observations upon the petrefactions of the Lough Neagh in Ireland, and who also made a present of a collection of the Same petrefaction to the Society. He is now writing on the Coins of Ireland, and from a long correspondence with him, I am desirous to add my Name to those of the other Gentlemen who have already signed his recommendation.
