TitleLever, Sir Ashton: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationAshton Lever Esq of Alkrington near Manchester, one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Lancaster, offers himself as a Candidate for admission into the Royal Society; and is recommended by us from our personal knowledge of him as a Gentleman, who to other useful and shining qualifications unites a high degree of taste for Natural History. Equally munificent and indefatigable in his pursuit of this branch of Knowledge, he has with infinite assiduity and expence furnished a Museum, which may be justly deemed one of the noblest monuments of private Industry in Great Britain
