CitationMr John Mudge, Surgeon of Plymouth, (author of a paper published in the philosophical transactions, for the year 1749, containing a method to remedy the only defect in the lateral operation for the Stone in the bladder, by which method large stones may be extracted without the usual consequences attending great lacerations) being desirous to be elected into the Royal Society, We have the honour to recommend him on our personal acquaintance, as likely to become an useful member; and testify, that he is a Gentleman of distinguished character, not only for skill in his own profession, but likewise for an extendice knowledge and experience in various parts of Natural Philosophy
