TitleToaldo, Giuseppe: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionThird of three certificates relating to this Fellow's election
Citation[I] underwritten certify that Signor Abate Guiseppe Toaldo, Publick Professor of Astronomy and Meteorology at Padua, where he now resides, appears to me a very proper Person to be admitted among the foreign Fellows of the Royal Society, for which he offers himself a candidate; being not only a Man of distinguished learning and merit; but also of great reputation in the particular Branches of Science which he professes, and in which he has distinguished himself by different Publications, and lately in particular by his Saggio Meteororologico, a 4to volume, containing new lights on the Subject of Meteorology, and particular observations, that are the result of many years of his own experience, added to that of other professors, and particularly of the late celebrated Marquis Polani. He is moreover a Fellow of the Academies of Bologna, Berlin, and other learned Societies, and has lately gained the Prize of the Academy of Montpellier, by a Dissertation, since published, entitled Sulla Meteorologia applicata all'Agricoltura
