Title | Turner, Sir Tomkyns Hilgrove: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | Colonel Tomkyns Turner of the 3rd regiment of footguards of Argyle Street a gentleman conversant in various branches of natural knowledge, as well as of general Literature, to whose active & well-directed exertions the public stands principally indebted for the posession & subsequent safe conveyance of those marbles of the highest Egyptian antiquity which have since been deposited in the British Museum, being desirous of becoming a fellow of the Royal Society, we, whose names are hereunto subscribed, do, of our own personal knowledge, believe him to be highly worthy of that honor, & likely to become a valuable & useful Member |
