The Inventor of the Machinery [underlined] used for making Biscuit for the Navy, and of a condensed Fuel [underlined] for Steam Vessels, approved of & adopted by Government. Distinguished for his acquaintance with the science of applying mechanical powers to the uses of life. Eminent as an ingenious & successful Engineer, in having adapted machinery to the public Service of the Country, & thereby diminishing the expense of provisioning Her Majesty's Fleet, also in having devised (out of materials heretofore useless) a description of Fuel which will enable Steam Boats to keep the sea much longer than formerly.
