Author of an 'Introductory Treatise on Lie's Theory of Continuous Transformation Groups' (Clarendon Press, 1903). Also of important original papers in advancement of this and allied mathematical theories, including 'On a Law of Combination of Operators bearing on the Theory of Continuous Groups' (two papers, Proc Lond Math Soc, vols xxviii, xxix); 'On the Theory of Simultaneous Partial Differential Equations' (ibid, vol xxxi); 'Proof of the third Fundamental Theorem in Lie's Theory of Continuous Groups' (ibid, vol xxxiii); 'On the Types of Linear partial Differential Equations of the second order in three independent variables which are unaltered by the Transformations of a Continuous Group' (Trans American Math Soc, vol i); and many others, contained in the Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society and the Messenger of Mathematics.
