Author of the following papers: - 'Theory of the Gas Engine' (Inst CE, 1882, Telford Premium); 'The Explosion of Homogeneous Gaseous Mixtures' (Inst CE, 1886, Telford Premium); 'Specific Heats of Gases at High Temperatures' (Soc Chem Industry, 1886); 'The Gas Hammer' (Brit Assoc, 1887); 'Recent Developments in Gas Engines' (Inst CE,1896); 'Gas and Oil Engines' (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1902); 'Large Gas Engines' (The Gas Institute, 1902, President's Medal); 'Forrest Lecture on Internal Combustion Motors' (Inst CE, 1904); 'Cantor Lecture on Internal Combustion Motors, 1905'; 'Flame Temperatures in Internal Combustion Motors' (Brit Assoc, 1905); 'Specific Heat of Gases, Heat Flow and other Phenomena of the Internal Combustion Engine' (Roy Soc, 1906); 'The Problem of the Gas Turbine' (Junior Inst of Engineers, 1905); 'Limits of Thermal Efficiences in Internal Combustion Engines' (Inst CE, 1907); 'Flame the Working Fluid in Gas and Petrol Engines' (Roy Inst, 1907). Author of 'The Gas Engine' (1886), 'Gas and Oil Engines' (1896).
