DescriptionDate stamp on reverse
CitationDistinguished for his numerous contributions to Systematic Botany, and for his series of County Floras (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Northamptonshire, Zetlandia, West Ross-shire, &c). He has discovered and described numerous plants, many of which bear his name. The Fielding Herbarium at Oxford owes much of its present importance to his devoted (and all but honorary) Curatorship. He has rendered national service in stimulating and practically promoting the study of Field Botany among all classes of the community, and by his work on the Executive of the Society for the Preservation of Natural Areas.
