CitationHas led the way in the application of the theory of vortex motion associated with the name of Prandtl to the practical problems of Aeronautics. His work on 'The Theory of Thin Aerofoils' and on 'The Effect of Compressibility on the Lift of an Aerofoil' are of first-class importance in aerodynamics. The results of his work are published in 23 papers in the 'Reports and Memoranda' of the Aeronautical Research Committee and two papers in the Proceedings of the Royal Society. His book 'Aerofoil and Airscrew Theory' was awarded the silver medal of the French Aeronautical Society.
