TitleBowen, Edmund John: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationMr Bowen is distinguished for his investigaions in Physical chemistry, especially in the domain of Photochemistry. His work on the photochemistry of the chlorine oxides was among the first showing the validity of the law of Photochemical Equivalence. Succeeding papers of his have dealt with numerous aspects of photochemistry, and are remarkable for the novelty of the experimental observations, and the clear theoretical appreciation of the bearing of these observations on the fundamental laws of chemical change.
