CitationDistinguished as a bio-chemist; formerly Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge; is a Professorial Fellow of Trinity College, Oxford. Has a continued career of research, except during the period of the war, from 1912 onwards to the present time. Devotes a large portion of his time and laboratory to original investigation, supervising and initiating the pursuit of research by others no less than conducting research personally himself; the output from himself and his co-workers and his pupils has been high in quantity and important for originality and reliability. He gave the Harben Lectures for 1929-1930.
