CitationDistinguished for his researches in Petrology and Mineralogy. Of special importance is his work on metamorphism and in particular of the granite gneisses of the Southern Eyre Peninsula, S Australia; on the metamorphosed rocks of the Start; on contact metamorphism in the Comrie Area, and his preliminary survey of metamorphic zones in the Southern Highlands. Further, his studies of the Dolerite-Chalk contact of Scawt Hill, Co Antrim, have led to results of great petrological and mineralogical interest. Has personal experience of the methods of investigation developed at the geophysical laboratory, Washington, and has done valuable work in this field.
