Author of a series of papers (Proc Roy Soc, 1923-1930) on the physical interaction of mixed gases, which have opened up and developed new knowledge of great value and importance for the study of molecular diameters and attractions. Author of papers (1933-34) dealing with a new and valuable mode of studying the nitration of organic substances. Has also published numerous papers on the solubilities and activities of substances, heterogeneous equilibria, thermal separation of gases, etc.
