CitationAssociate Director, Science Service, Dominion Department of Agriculture, Ottawa, Canada. Distinguished for researches on the Rust Fungi. Was the discoverer of sex, heterothallism, and the function of the spermiata in these fungi. Has contributed much to knowledge of the genetics and epidemiology of the cereal Rusts. Has been largely concerned with the introduction of rust-resistant varieties of wheat in Canada, and has estimated accurately the great economic advantage accruing from their use. Has stimulated many valuable researches in plant pathology. Is now in charge of the phytopathological and botanical services, Canadian Department of Agriculture. List of papers is appended.
