TitleDyson, Freeman John: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished for his contributions to Quantum Field Theory and to the Geometry of Numbers. He proved that "renormalisation" of radiation theory will remove the singularities to all orders in the coupling constant. More recently he has developed a method for treating bound states in field theory. He has in a few years become one of the leading spirits of field theory. In Pure Mathematics his most notable achievement is the proof, for n= 4, of Minowski's conjecture on the minimum of the product of n linear forms, and his improvement of the Siegel-Thue theorem.
