DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished for researches on the genesis of ore deposits, particularly in relation to igneous intrusion, stratigraphy and structure. His proof of zoning in the ore deposits of the northern Pennines and elucidation of their conditions of formation are of the highest scientific interest and have pointed the way to practical developments. Important collateral studies have been on British haematite, barites and fluorspar deposits and on sedimentary minerals. He has also given a fine account of the geology and ore deposits of the Organ Mountains, New Mexico. A list of publications is appended.
