CitationThe candidates main contributions to genetics are the outcome of studies first of interspecies crosses in Drosophila and more recently of the genetics of fungi, especially of Aspergillus.
He promulgated new and fruitful concepts of species architecture in Drosophila and then by his elegant studies of heterokaryosis and biochemical genetics of Aspergillus he has made himself an acknowledged authority of great distinction.
He is the leader of an enthusiastic school of genetics in the University of Glasgow. A list of 47 papers is appended.
