CitationHas contributed extensively to modern developments in astrophysics and cosmology, especially to the theories of accretion, stellar structure, and the expanding universe. On all these topics he has justly an international reputation. His work is characterised by mathematical applications of great ingenuity to problems for which no specialised techniques are available. He is the author of an authoritative Cambridge monograph on "Cosmology".
Bondi has also made important contributions regarding surface waves in compressible fluid, the hydrodynamics of motions within the Earth's core and their connection with nutation, magnetohydrodynamics, and the foundations of gravitation, electricity, and general relativity.
