TitleHolroyd, Sir Ronald: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationDuring the past 25 years Dr. Holroyd has made an outstanding contribution to chemical technology in Britain. The imaginative quality and the experimental skill of his investigations provided basic data and a range of new catalysts for processes for the hydrogenation of coal and oil. His scientific acumen and his fundamental grasp of a technological problem were conspicuous in his solutions of the urgent problems that arose in the production of high octane aviation fuel at Heysham and Billingham during the war, and later in the major developments in the petrochemical field at Wilton. His responsibilities as Research Director of Imperial Chemical Industries in recent years have again demonstrated the exceptional quality of his scientific outlook and judgment.
