CitationProfessor of Psychology at McGill University since 1947. Before this held various research posts in Canada and U.S.A., including a Research Fellowship at the Yerkes Laboratory of Primate Biology in Florida. Worked here with Professor K.S. Lashley, who determined the main directions of his interests. His investigations into the neural basis of human behaviour have brought him an international reputation, and his book on the Organisation of Behaviour (underlined) has an outstanding influence upon experimental research in psychology. He has also inspired and directed highly original experiments into the effects upon human conduct of sensory deprivation.
