CitationDistinguished for his contributions to the taxonomy of Flowering plants, notably a scholarly monograph of the genus Meconopsis and a number of papers concerning the critical Potamogetons, also a notable account of W.African Podostemaceae, including three new genera. Dr. Taylor has taken part in expeditions to Rhodesia [Zimbabwe] and Thibet and was joint leader of the Botanical Expedition to the East African Mts. A great part of Dr.Taylor's time and energy has been given to the advancement of science and to the assistance of others. He served as General Sec. Of the B.A. from 1951-58 and as Botanical Sec. Of the Linnean Socy. From 1950-56. During this latter period he was Keeper of Botany at the British Museum. From 1940 - 45 he was a Principal in the Air Ministry.
