TitleFincham, John Robert Stanley: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationJ. R. S. Fincham, Geneticist distinguished for his studies on gene-enzyme relations and in particular for the effects of mutation on enzyme structure, and gene complementation on enzyme function. He was one of the first to show that gene mutations caused alterations in the properties of specific enzymes. From his studies on intragenic complementation, he was the first to show that the resulting enzyme is not truly wild type enzyme. This has been the key finding in support of the theory of intragenic complementation by the formation of hybrid polymers.
