Also for the design and development of a successful scanning electron microscope. The team, under Oatley's direction, which has worked in Cambridge since the War overcame earlier difficulties and their efforts culminated in the design of an instrument now in commercial production on a considerable scale which is of the greatest value in a wide variety of scientific investigations.
