CitationThe principal contribution has been in the invention and exploitation of the technique of Molecular Photoelectron Spectroscopy. This method of studying molecular energy levels has proved to be of the greatest importance in our understanding of molecular orbitals and is developing into a very significant new branch of chemical spectroscopy.
Dr. Turner has also made important contributions to the techniques of magnetic resonance and to our knowledge of the spectra of organic vapours in the vacuum ultra-violet.
