CitationProfessor Paige has made outstanding contributions in one branch of pure physics - transport properties of semiconductors, and in one branch of applied physics - the use of Rayleigh waves for signal processing.
In the former, he was the first to demonstrate electron-hole scattering in a solid. In the latter, he is associated with the invention of a device, - the multistrip coupler which has proved to be of dominant importance in surface acoustic wave signal processing devices.
