TitleCashmore, Roger John: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date1995
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished for many contributions to experimental particle physics. He developed a new approach to partial wave analysis of three-body hadronic systems, made the definitive analysis of non-strange baryons and subsequently made a similar analysis of strange baryons. He then established a research programme on e+e- annihilations with the TASSO detector at DESY producing the first evidence for the gluon, determining its spins and couplings. He was a member of the small group developing the research programme of the electron-proton collider, HERA, and is the principal British investigator with its ZEUS detector. Recent observations include an improved understanding of the Pomeron.
