TitlePetersen, Ole Holger: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationProfessor Petersen has made major contributions to the understanding of the cell physiology of calcium signalling. He provided the first demonstration of hormone-elicited, messenger-mediated ion channel activation. He discovered the phenomenon whereby calcium entering the cell at one end diffuses to the other end through the endoplasmic reticulum. Finally, he has shown that the nuclear envelope provides an additional store from which calcium can be released
